Dec. 19th Speaker for monthly meeting

Tom Petri (PEA-tree) is U.S. Senator Ron Johnson’s state legislative director. Tom has been serving the citizens of Wisconsin as a member of Senator Johnson’s staff since early 2011, joining the senator’s staff just weeks after he took office. During his eight plus years of service to the senator, Tom has held five distinct positions; including an initial stint as his southeast Wisconsin regional director, followed by five years of Washington DC-based service as both the director of special projects and the senior legislative assistant. Now, in the Senator’s second term, Tom heads-up the Madison, WI office, and is a key member of the larger leadership team, serving as the Wisconsin Legislative Director.
Prior to his time working in Congress, Tom spent over ten years working in a variety of state legislative, communications and government relations positions. Tom’s personal and political perspectives have been shaped by his years spent serving principled republican legislators at both the state and federal government level as both a policy and communications-focused staffer, as well as by the four years he spent leading grassroots advocacy and outreach efforts at a private, non-profit health care association. Raised in Green Bay, WI and a 1991 graduate of Ashwaubenon High School, Tom, his wife Anna, and their four children ages 15,14,13 and 12, currently reside in Sun Prairie, WI.
